Delisted: Normabec, led by President Roberty Ayotte and Chairman Lewis Lawrick, is focused on the Real de Catorce silver project in Mexico and the Pitt gold project in Quebec. In Mexico Normabec's project is located in northern San Luis Potosí State and covers a past producing mining district that has seen little modern exploration and has a historic esource estimated at 533,000 tons, grading 275 g/t Ag remaining after the cessation of earlier mining activities. In Quebec, the Pitt gold project where Normabec can earn an 80% interest is located approximately 35 km north of Rouyn-Noranda and has a limited historic resource estimate. In September 2009 Normabec announced plans to be acquired by First Majestic Silver for 0.06 First Majestic share (~$.18 cents) per Normabec share, with a new company called Brionor Resources being spun off to focus on Normabec's Pitt gold project. |

SV Rating: Bottom-Fish Spec Value - as of December 7, 2021: Quebec Precious Metals Corp has a Bottom-Fish Spec Value rating based on a reasonably well-funded exposure to the James Bay Plan Nord region where it is delineating the Sakami gold discovery with the goal of achieving a 2-3 million oz underground mineable gold resource and where its Blanche-Charles properties staked in 2017 turn out to be strategically located relative to Midland's emerging Mythril copper discovery. The company was formed on July 5, 2018 when Matamac Explorations Inc and Canada Strategic Metals Inc merged to consolidate a James Bay gold focus that was bankrolled by Goldcorp and Caisse de Depot who injected $5.1 million at $0.61 per unit. QPM's symbol "CJC" is a relic from Canada Strategic Metals which spent 2000-2010 in the oil patch before shifting into critical metals in 2011 with Jean-Sebastien Lavallee at the helm. The graphite focus shifted to farmouts after 2013 when CJC optioned 70% of the Sakami gold project from Matamec. By 2017 CJC had vested for 50% and was working on earning 70% by delivering a BFS within 5 years, but in April 2018 the two juniors agreed to merge with a major management change that brought on board Normand Champigny as CEO and John Hick as chairman, with Jean-Sebastien Lavallee, whose other job is as CEO of lithium focused Critical Elements Corp, assuming the role of exploration VP. The graphite projects have been optioned 100% to Lomiko Metals Inc and the 68% owned Kipawa heavy rare earth project is for sale. Management is of the view that despite the interest created by the 2004 discovery of the Eleonore gold deposit the James Bay region, host to multiple greenstone belts, is very under-explored relative to the similar sized Quebec portion of the Abitibi region to the south. Sakami, first explored in the early 2000's, consists of 2 slab-like southeast dipping bodies, Zone 25 and the smaller stacked Zone 26, in the La Pointe area into which 25,000 m (132 holes) have been drilled. Zone 25 has been traced along a strike of 800 m and down-plunge 550 m. The system is open about 100 m up-plunge under Sakami Lake at whose edge drilling stopped, and down-plunge to the southwest. QPM has made available excel spreadsheets of the drill results so that Leapfroggers can play with the data. The La Pointe area mineralization is not high grade; intervals rarely spike above 6 g/t. The goal is to establish a resource of 2-3 million ounces at 3-4 g/t gold, what Goldcorp deems to be the development threshold. A 2D footprint of 800 m x 500 m at 2.6 specific gravity implies a tonnage range of 10-20 million tonnes at average thicknesses of 10-20 m. If we assume 4 g/t for the 10 m thickness and 3 g/t for 20 m, that gives us a possible in situ range of 1.3-1.9 million ounces. That is short of the target range, which is why drilling in 2019 will include both expansion and infill drilling to support a maiden resource estimate by Q1 of 2020. The trick is to get the average grade and thickness to 4 g/t and 20 m respectively. But even if this proves not achievable, the La Pointe area represents only a fraction of the 23 km NE-SW trend of the Sakami property which straddles the contact between the meta-volcanics of the La Grande Sub-Province and the meta-sediments of the Opinaca Sub-Province. New gold showings have been identified as far as 8 km to the NE which require followup. Obviously if gold actually developed a real price uptrend, the cutoff grade of this system could be dropped to push the resource into the target range. With $2.5 million working capital left QPM may not have enough to complete a planned 15,000 m program in 2019 which means it will have to finance this year. There are 4.4 million warrants at $0.85 that expire in June 2020, so QPM does not have a warrant overhang problem. Because Sakami is already a partly delineated gold discovery with an established grade range, additional drill results are not going to move the market unless stepout holes add tonnage at medium grade or better. That is the reason the stock is drifting in the $0.20-$0.30 range. But that situation could change in 2019 thanks to the Blanche and Charles claim blocks QPM staked in 2017 to cover two trends of meta-volcanics that have gold potential. The Blanche claims track the Trans-Taiga Highway north of Azimut's Pikwa and Midland's Mythril properties. These rocks have evidence of small intrusions and nothing beyond some prospecting in 2017 has been done on them. The Charles claim is an elongated NNE trending block staked to cover a magnetic high and geology assumed to be mafic meta-volcanics. Midland's main Mythril block adjoins to the west, and Midland staked claims immediately to the east. The Charles claim may prove strategically important to Midland if the Mythril copper system repeats itself within the east-west trend staked by Midland. QPM intends to farm out Charles and possibly Blanche should Midland deliver a world class copper discovery that spawns a Great Canadian area play. The excitement would directly impact QPM's ability to raise additional capital at better prices to fund work at its flagship Sakami project, as well as ramp up its ambition to replace Virginia Mines as the premiere gold explorer in the James Bay Plan Nord region. Quebec Precious Metals Corp qualifies for a Bottom-Fish Spec Value rating on the basis of Sakami alone, with upside linked to stepout drilling success and/or a rising gold price, but the accidental strategic location of the Blanche and Charles projects gives the junior a free ride on the upside of a Mythril copper discovery play. |
